Launch of tech accelerator "Speed@BDD" in Beirut

Dear Lebnet members,

Lebanon For Entrepreneurs (LFE) and Lebnet are happy to announce the launch of tech accelerator “Speed@BDD” in Beirut after over a year of preparation.

LFE (joint initiative between Lebnet, LIFE, and SEAL) played an instrumental role in the design, creation, and staffing of Speed@BDD, and the accelerator was intended from the start to be a collaborative effort between Lebanon's leading investment funds and entrepreneurship support organizations (LFE, Bader, Berytech, MEVP). The Board of Directors is currently composed of Fadi Bizri (Managing Director of Bader), Maroun Chammas (Chairman of the Board; Chairman and CEO of Berytech), Walid Hanna (Managing Partner of MEVP), and Abdallah Jabbour (Managing Director of LFE).

The accelerator will accept start-ups at the idea or Minimum Viable Product stage, and will be tasked with producing Lebanon's next high-impact businesses, particularly in the software, digital, and Web/mobile industries. The services it will offer include free hosting, product development, business development, accounting services, legal services, and mentorship. Hosted in the Beirut Digital District (BDD), Speed@BDD will admit two batches per year, and the top teams in each batch will benefit from follow-on acceleration in Silicon Valley. The Beta website is now accepting applications here, and we expect the first batch of start-ups to be admitted in early 2015.

Speed@BDD’s team is currently looking to fill the CTO position. Interested candidates should email their résumés to
