    LebNet San Diego’s “Mission to the Moon: A Propulsion Engineer’s Journey” was an inspiring year-end gathering, bringing together about 40 members of our growing community, both familiar faces and exciting new ones. Hosted at Cooley LLP on December 4th, the event featured a captivating fireside chat with Sarah Ramlaoui, Propulsion Engineer at Lockheed Martin, moderated by Cynthia Jereige, Cybersecurity PMO Lead at Intuit.

    Sarah shared her remarkable journey into aerospace engineering, tracing how her early curiosity and academic path led her to a career designing propulsion systems for advanced space missions. She offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at the engineering challenges of sending rockets beyond Earth, explaining how propulsion technology directly enables lunar exploration and why returning to the Moon remains essential for scientific progress, technological innovation, and humanity’s future in space. She also spoke about the thrill and responsibility of contributing to missions that push the boundaries of what is possible.

    Cynthia guided the conversation skillfully, prompting Sarah to reflect on her personal experiences, professional growth, and the evolving landscape of space exploration. Attendees engaged in thoughtful questions about propulsion design, mission readiness, and the future of lunar programs.

    Our LebNet San Diego community continues to expand, and this event was a testament to the enthusiasm and curiosity that fuel our gatherings. Participants described the evening as “inspiring, insightful, and energizing”, a perfect close to an impactful year of programming.

    On Saturday, December 6, 2025, LebNet Chicago wrapped up an incredible first year with a festive evening of networking, connection, and friendly competition. Dozens of members gathered at Electric Shuffle in downtown Chicago to celebrate the growth of our community while enjoying two hours of shuffleboard, great conversations, and plenty of holiday cheer.

    Attendees mingled over drinks and appetizers, meeting new faces and reconnecting with familiar ones in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Everyone joined in on the fun, making the room buzz with energy, laughter, and the spirit of community that has defined LebNet Chicago’s first year. The casual format made it easy to spark conversations and build meaningful connections.

    The event received wonderful feedback from participants, with one attendee sharing: “The event was very fun and successful.” The enthusiasm continued throughout the evening, reinforcing how valued these community gatherings are.

    A huge thank you to our Chicago community for showing up with such energy and making this event a joyful end to 2025. And special appreciation to the LebNet Chicago Leadership Team for their dedication throughout the year. Their hard work has transformed this community into a vibrant, fast-growing hub of Lebanese tech professionals.

    On November 14, LebNet Montreal hosted an exceptional evening focused on one of today’s most critical topics: cybersecurity. The event brought together leaders from government and industry for a lively, insightful discussion attended by 40+ highly engaged participants.

    The panel featured Alice Abou-Khalil, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Cybersecurity and Digital Technology, and Fadi Joseph, Cybersecurity expert. The conversation was expertly moderated by Nada Zogheib, Strategic Business consultant & coach.

    The discussion tackled emerging threats, evolving technologies, and the policies shaping our digital future. The audience was notably participative, contributing thoughtful questions and observations. As community leader Rania Afiouni-Monla remarked:
    “It was food for the brain and food for the heart. The audience was very engaged… and then in a second we moved from cybersecurity mode to tears-in-our-eyes mode with touching words from Fadi and Alice and an emotional reaction from Nada.”

    A deeply moving moment unfolded when Nada Zogheib was surprised

     with a government medal, nominated by colleagues and community members in recognition of her exceptional contributions. She has

     supported countless entrepreneurs and played a vital role in advancing the success of numerous businesswomen through the Quebec businesswomen’s network. With experience both inside and outside academic institutions, Nada has been a pillar of guidance and impact. Surrounded by dignitaries, peers, and friends, she accepted the honor with heartfelt gratitude: “I had the privilege of moderating a rich and inspiring panel... I was then surprised and honored to receive a government medal, making the moment even more meaningful. I leave this experience energized and determined to continue contributing to our ecosystem.”

    Panelist and LebNet Leader Fadi Joseph added:

     “A powerful mix of cybersecurity, emotions, and true community spirit.”

    From cutting-edge insights on AI and cybersecurity to heartfelt community recognition, the evening delivered an exceptional blend of learning, inspiration, and connection, perfectly capturing the spirit of LebNet Montreal.

    On October 23, LebNet Boston hosted an inspiring and forward-looking panel at MIT titled “AI at the Frontiers of Biotech, MedTech, and Drug Discovery,” bringing together leading voices at the intersection of artificial intelligence and the life sciences. The conversation explored how AI is accelerating discovery, and opening new possibilities in human health.

    The panel featured Louis Attallah, a pioneer in clinical AI with technologies deployed in over 1,000 ICUs; Talal Ali Ahmad, Founder and CEO of Predictive Healthcare and creator of the AI wound-monitoring platform MyHealthPal™; and Tarek Fadel, Director of Strategic Alliances at MIT’s Marble Center for Cancer Nanomedicine, leading partnerships that advance cancer innovation. The discussion was moderated by Léa El Khoury, Group Leader in Computational Chemistry at Qubit Pharmaceuticals.

    Key Themes and Insights: 

    The discussion opened with each panelist sharing their journey into the AI–life sciences space and reflecting on AI’s rapidly evolving impact. Panelists emphasized how AI could enable faster research cycles, discussed the technical and scientific challenges that still slow AI deployment in hospitals, labs, and industry.

    During the deep-dive portion of the conversation, the panel explored targeted topics:

    • Talal Ali Ahmad shared how AI can empower clinicians to detect postoperative risks, as well as the next steps for expanding MyHealthPal™

    • Tarek Fadel discussed AI applications and impact in academia

    • Louis Attallah highlighted the measurable improvements AI tools are already bringing to patient outcomes 

    In closing, panelists shared what excites them most about the convergence of AI and life sciences.

    On October 22, LebNet partnered with the IEEE student branch at ASU to host an engaging panel on the semiconductor industry. The event drew around 30 attendees, including students, professors, and industry professionals. The panel was moderated by Rony Ferzli (Co-Founder, Papr.AI) and featured distinguished panelists Jihad Abbas (AMD), Sleiman Bou-Sleiman (Synopsys), Karim El Roz (ASM), and Tarek Gebrael (Intel).

    The evening began with a brief introduction to LebNet before moving into the discussion. Panelists explored the foundations of chip design, covering the role of IP and EDA tools as “building blocks,” the microscopic work of advanced manufacturing machines, and industry models such as Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDMs) versus fabless companies. They also highlighted how collaboration across the ecosystem brings complex semiconductor products to life.

    Rony guided the conversation through key innovation drivers, including AI, AR/VR, and automotive applications. Topics spanned heterogeneous computing, chiplet architectures, transistor design, multi-die packaging, and materials challenges, as well as limitations like thermal, power, and reliability constraints. Panelists emphasized the growing role of AI in design and manufacturing.

    The discussion then turned to the workforce of tomorrow. Panelists addressed emerging engineering roles, AI as a “co-pilot,” and the skills most in demand. They stressed the value of multidisciplinary expertise beyond electrical and computer engineering and highlighted the importance of software skills and collaboration in shaping the next generation of semiconductor professionals.

    Audience questions covered supply chain challenges, future-ready skills, and curriculum adaptation, sparking dialogue between students, professors, and industry leaders. Post-panel networking included ideas for student-focused initiatives, such as coding sessions, and strategies to better prepare future talent for the evolving semiconductor landscape.

    The session delivered actionable insights and fostered meaningful connections across students, academia, and industry.     LebNet Mid-Atlantic hosted an engaging evening on “Breaking Into Tech: Tools to Launch Your Journey,” bringing together around 40 members of the community,professionals and students eager to explore how to enter or pivot into technology, data, and AI.

    The discussion, moderated by Moukhtar Nsouli (Senior Implementation Manager, Kyruus Health), featured Keenan Moukarzel (Head of Analytics Tools & Services, KeyBank) and Ranyah Salous (Director of Technology Solutions, AI & Data, Guidehouse). Panelists shared personal stories of transitioning into tech from diverse fields, underscoring that success starts with curiosity, persistence, and continuous learning. They encouraged attendees to start small, through low-code tools, data projects, or free online resources, and to leverage existing skills to create unique value in tech.

    The event also highlighted emerging opportunities in AI, analytics, and low-code platforms, where accessibility and creativity are opening doors for newcomers. Zazzy Restaurant provided a hip venue and delicious food, adding to the evening’s warm, community-driven atmosphere.

    LebNet DC Breaking into Tech

    Toronto | October 7, 2025

    On October 7, more than 50 attendees gathered in Toronto for AI for Good: How Can It Shape a More Inclusive and Impactful Future?, a fireside chat featuring Christophe Zoghbi, Founder & CEO of ZAKA, and Jamil Mina, North America Tech Sales Leader at Red Hat, who served as moderator.

    The discussion explored the responsible use of AI, how to make AI accessible to everyone, and the role of Lebanese innovators and the broader tech community in shaping an inclusive digital future.

    The event drew an engaged audience representing a wide range of roles and career paths: from students and researchers to entrepreneurs, product managers, and technology leaders. The room’s energy was contagious, with conversations continuing well beyond the scheduled end time.

    Ray Lahoud, LebNet Toronto Community Leader, opened the evening with an overview of LebNet’s mission and the leadership team’s vision to foster collaboration and connection among Lebanese professionals in tech.

    “It was amazing to meet such a talented group of Lebanese expats,” said Jamil Mina. “The questions and engagement showed how deep and innovative our community is. Meeting David, a LebNet Soft Landing awardee with impressive NLP expertise, reminded me how LebNet continues to recognize and support exceptional talent.”

    LebNet Toronto AI for Good: Shaping a better Tomorrow

    LebNet Pacific Northwest hosted its first event of the year, a Family Picnic on Saturday, October 4th, bringing together about 30 community members for an afternoon of connection, great food, and outdoor fun.

    Attendees enjoyed delicious manoushes and more,  generously donated by Manoushe Expressfriendly conversations, and the chance to reconnect with familiar faces while welcoming many first-time participants. “People really loved reconnecting with ones they knew and hadn’t seen in a while, and many met new ones — for some, it was their first event,” shared community leader Raja Yanni. “It really felt like a great event; people enjoyed the Lebanese food, were happy to be out and see each other, and were already asking what we’re doing next!”

    One attendee summed up the spirit of the day perfectly: “It was great seeing everyone today! Thanks a bunch @Raja Yanni for organizing this and gathering us.”

    With around ten kids having fun at the nearby playground and adults sharing laughter and stories, the picnic perfectly captured the warmth and spirit of the LebNet community. This being our first gathering of the year, we’re excited about the energy and enthusiasm the community is bringing and can’t wait for what’s next!

    On October 2nd, LebNet Montreal hosted a vibrant Social Evening that brought together around 20 Lebanese professionals in tech. The gathering provided an excellent platform for members of the community to connect, network, and engage in meaningful conversations in a welcoming and relaxed setting.

    The event combined both fun and substance, with moments of laughter and light-hearted exchanges alongside a more structured tour de table that allowed each participant to introduce themselves, share what they do, and express what they might need from the community.

    One attendee captured the spirit of the evening by sharing: “Awesome vibes, truly! A mix of fun, laughs, and some serious/official tour de table for everyone to know what the others do and need.”

    LebNet Bay Area was thrilled to host its 6th Bireme Award Ceremony on Tuesday, September 30th, bringing together nearly 70 members of our community for an evening of celebration, inspiration, and connection. 

    This year, we proudly honored:

    • Simon Kalouche, Entrepreneur of the Year, Founder & CEO of Nimble, a robotics company valued at over $1B and shaping the future of automation.

    • Alaa Khaddaj, Young Scientist of the Year, PhD candidate at MIT specializing in trustworthy AI and machine learning.

    Both awardees shared their journeys, highlighting pivotal moments in their careers, the influence of their Lebanese heritage, the challenges they faced, and their vision for the future of robotics, AI, and entrepreneurship. Their stories inspired a room filled with students, young professionals, and seasoned leaders alike.

    The evening featured a panel discussion moderated by last year’s Bireme awardees, Aya Mouallem and Hadi Salman, who guided an engaging and thoughtful conversation with Simon and Alaa. The discussion explored:

    • Building world-class startups and navigating early-stage challenge

    • The role of Lebanese heritage in shaping innovation and leadership.

    • The future of robotics, automation, and trustworthy AI 

    In her remarks, LebNet’s Executive Director captured the spirit of the evening:

    “The ties that bind us as Lebanese stretch across oceans and generations, uniting us no matter where we are born or where life takes us. Simon and Alaa are proof of that truth, one born in the U.S., one in Lebanon, yet both deeply proud of their homeland, our tiny country that continues to astonish the world with extraordinary talent, boldly navigating, connecting, and leaving their mark.”

    The event drew record attendance for a Bay Area gathering, with a strong showing from the younger generation eager to connect, learn, and contribute to the community. The energy in the room reflected both pride in our shared heritage and a commitment to supporting the next wave of Lebanese talent.
